Joe Menes: 1920-2010

Joe passed away peacefully in Ninewells Hospital, after a short illness, just a few months short of his ninetieth birthday. A long-standing member of Dundee Photographic Society, Joe was an accomplished photographer who worked mainly in colour slides from which he produced beautiful Cibachrome prints.

He also had a passion for and expertise in creating audio visual presentations. Many will remember “Bridging the Tay”, a personal photographic journey from source to sea, which was always well received by the countless clubs and associations to which it was shown over the years.

As a member of DPS, Joe enjoyed taking part in competitions, photographic outings and social events and he was always happy to pass on his knowledge and enthusiasm to other members. I am privileged to have known and counted Joe as a friend for the past thirty years.

Very much a family man, Joe was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed his life to the full and was never happier than in the company of his family. My sincere condolences to all of Joe’s family.
